Navi Games Inc.

Navi is from the Hebrew word losely translated "prophet" or "seer." It, however, might better be rendered "the voice of God on earth." The Isrealites looked to their navi for guidance and wisdom. Here at Navi Games Inc. we hope our games will also be a source of guidance and wisdom for those who play them. And we hope people will think they are badass too.

After working through five different files, I think I finally have a control system that is like the one we have discussed. I’ll bring my laptop on Friday and show you guys.

It all looks good to me, I'll try to come with some content as well. I'll tell you right now it probably won't be any where near what, our wordsmith, Jon will come up with. But I'll get something together.

I like it dood. Good idea, I'll work on that.

Here's a standard page. Content would go on the right and jon's sketches would mess with the lines on the left.

This is as if the pointer was over the dark-yellow square. When the mouse isn't over that square it is the same lighter yellow as its neighbor.

This is when the mouse is over it. Do you think it's too dark? Does the real butterfly need to be outlined in silver maybe?

I can't upload the main page and other page...they keep erroring. I will try later.

I could really use typed up content for each page. What the text will say on each page and how it will be structured.

Thats good.
The class schedule says that Assignment 1 is due this Friday.

Assignment 1 - Independent Brainstorming : Using this template, sketch (using pen and paper- not a computer, unless you happen to have a TabletPC) ideas for 1 or 2 possible games. Use as many sheets of paper as you need. Do this assignment on your own, please, because it is YOUR ideas that I want to see nurtured. Do not share these ideas yet with your potential group members. Sketch out what the game screens look like, and in 1 paragraph summarize what the focus or goal of the game is. Xerox 3 copies of your ideas. Give copies to your other group members.

So I think we should all do alittle of this brainstroming. Atleast one storyboard or discription each, that way we have something to post on the website when we actually have one other than my placemarker.

This is a reminder that we are meeting on Monday at 2:30 in the Linux Lab (same place we were Friday). We are meeting to review the two serious games, MeCHeM and Darfur is Dying, so remember to play them.

Oh and try to figure out which game you think is the best to make.

See you all Monday.

So I'll kick one off real quick. I couldn't sleep last night thinking of the art steeler game concept. I also though of a cool logo/intro idea. I picture the words rendered on screen in some rather simple type and a butterfly flitters in from the right side of the screen and settles on the "i" of "navi". As it settles the word turns silver slowly from left to right and freezes the butterfly with its wings half hopen on the "i" and there's like a laser sound akin to the THX sound (but not as intense) as the word changes. Finally a voice says, really quickly and softly, "Navi". Whatcha think?

Also here's something about the word for you guys:

In reality the English word "prophet" is not an accurate translation of the Hebrew navi. Whereas the Hebrew term comes from a root meaning to speak or proclaim, the English one originates in a Greek word denoting the prediction of the future. The concept of Greek prophecy reflects a very different religious culture, in which oracles foretold coming events, and had scant interest in moral instruction.

This is definitely not the case among the Hebrew prophets. The Nevi'im were not concerned with revealing the course of future events. Their messages were invariably aimed at the here-and-now, to proclaim God's word to their contemporaries.

Anyway, I'm excited.
